Meet Sarah Peterson, Digital Marketing and Learning Specialist

Today, we’re excited to introduce one of our newest team members, Sarah Peterson! Sarah joined us in July as a Digital Marketing and Learning Specialist (DMLS). Since starting at GAAP Dynamics, Sarah has assisted with several marketing initiatives such as updating content on our website and creating social media posts. She also dove headfirst into the eLearning world by learning to program in Storyline 360 and has done excellent work on several projects for our clients.

Check out Sarah’s interview below to learn more about her career experience and the projects she is excited about contributing to as a member of the GAAP Dynamics team!

1. What has your career path been like and why did you choose GAAP Dynamics?

After graduating from JMU in 2016, I worked at an event and destination management company in their creative department. In that position, I was in charge of the company’s social media, video production, media management, and other marketing efforts. I also worked on creative client event proposals.

I chose GAAP Dynamics because I found the role interesting – I liked the idea of getting to continue to grow in the digital marketing field while also diving into the world of creating eLearning programs. I also really liked the team and company dynamic when I interviewed for the role. I feel that the people you work with every day can really make or break a job, and I definitely got a great vibe from this team!

2. What are some highlights of your career thus far?

One of the coolest events that I got to work on at my previous job was an incentive trip for an auto company – Idina Menzel performed for the group of about 70 people on the lawn of Mount Vernon overlooking the Potomac. I was in charge of photography and video for the event, and I am a huge Broadway fan (a line from Defying Gravity was my senior quote in high school!), so getting to see Idina Menzel perform live was a dream.

My favorite social media campaign that I’ve worked on was a holiday campaign for my previous company that ran the full month of December. Each day, I highlighted a team member from across the company, and they shared what they were grateful for. For each “like” on Facebook and Instagram, the company donated $1 to the American Cancer Society. We tripled our previous year’s engagement, but far more importantly, it was awesome to be able to donate to a worthy cause.

3. What has been your favorite thing you have done since joining GAAP Dynamics?

So far, I’ve really enjoyed working on programming courses. I like the feeling that I’m creating something that someone will find really helpful, and helping people continue their education.

I also enjoy working with the website and creating content for social media.

4. What are you looking forward to working on as a member of the DMLS team?

I’m looking forward to exploring video production and development, and also website and social media management.

I’m also looking forward to programming more courses and developing my eLearning creation skills.

5. What are a couple fun facts about you?

Outside of work, I enjoy photography, kickboxing, swing dancing/salsa dancing, and thrift flipping!

Welcome to the team, Sarah! It has been a pleasure getting to know you over the past couple of months, and we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in this role!
