Part 2: Creating accessible PDFs for eLearning

In the first part of our ACI (accessible course index) series, we discussed the importance of accessibility in eLearning, and detailed how we took the course indexes included with our self-study courses for a Big 4 accounting firm and converted them into accessible PDFs that were able to be read and navigated by a screen reader. We are excited to be able to create this multi-part vlog series on how we tag our accessible course indexes, as well as how to troubleshoot some errors we ran into, in order to be a helpful resource to anyone else working on updating their PDF resources for accessibility.

In Part 1 of our vlog series on creating ACIs, we demonstrated how to prepare your ACI in Microsoft Word to be converted to PDF, how to tag any forms included in the document, and shared several solutions for troubleshooting form errors. In Part 2, we will share how to tag lists so that the screen reader can read them effectively, how to tag your table of contents for ease of navigation, how to ensure proper reading order, and more troubleshooting tips, such as how to relink your table of contents if it gets unlinked.
