Our first multi-day training on the new Revolution platform!

If you’ve been a loyal GAAP Dynamics blog subscriber for at least a year (thank you!), you may remember my blog from last August that talked about how we were able to work with our client and quickly transform a 7-day, in-person training into an interactive and engaging online experience due to COVID-19 restrictions (which unfortunately, we are still trying to navigate). Well, we recently held the same 7-day, online training for our client’s new hire class (hopefully next year we’ll be back in person!); and even though we held a similar online format as last year, this year was still a bit different!

So, why was the online course a bit different? As Vicky wrote about last month, GAAP Dynamics recently launched our new and improved Revolution thanks to a new learning management system (LMS)! The Revolution is our online eLearning site that houses all of our amazing, unique, and interactive courses, which now has better organization, a sleeker interface, improved reporting capabilities, and more ways to customize your learning!

And speaking of customization, this is where the participant’s experienced the biggest change from last year’s course. We were able to create individual participant pages that had their client’s name, logo, and branding/colors at the top of the page to give the site a more familiar feel. Each participant’s individual page listed each day as a separate “course collection” to easily access the learning content by day. The participants were able to view their progress for both the overall course and by individual day and had helpful buttons and links on the side of their page to quickly access important information, like CPE certificates, instructor contact information or our Support Desk.

As mentioned above, participants were able to click on a specific training day, which would take them into the details about the specific day and had all relevant links to each part of the day:

  • The morning Zoom meeting link
  • Links to each eLearning course to be completed that day
  • The afternoon webinar link (held in GoToWebinar)
  • The link to that day’s specific quiz

If you’ve ever taken a GAAP Dynamics training, you know we LOVE fun games and quizzes in order to earn points for prizes! So, we thought providing a daily quiz would be a fun, easy way to recap certain learning points from the day (plus some useless knowledge questions) to earn points. However, these quizzes didn’t open until the afternoon webinar started and then were locked again at the end of the day (11:59PM!). The next morning a report was automatically generated and sent out to the instructors to summarize the results of the daily quizzes. We definitely had some late night owls as people tried to complete the quizzes for the day after midnight, but our capability to lock these down forced the learners to complete them earlier and maybe get some more sleep!

As we’ve learned in this past year, life happens. And we know that things are going to come up during the day where you might not have the flexibility to complete all the eLearning courses or attend the full webinar. Which is why we were able to provide recordings of all the live webinars and upload the replays into each day of the course so if any participants missed these daily webinars, they had full access to rewatch or go back and take notes. Additionally, access to all registered eLearning courses are available for up to one year.

Now with any new technology, there are going to be some bumps in the road and while we had a few “bumps” during the 7-day course (e.g., a Zoom link not working, the google sheet that housed the overall scorecard was blocked by our client’s firewall, and a few complaints about getting too many email reminders) overall, the 7-day course delivery was a great experience for each participant, and we are really excited for many more course deliveries on our new Revolution platform!

Let us know what you might want to see in your own customized learning page – we’d love to hear from you!
